Summary of 2004 seminar:

  • Do you want to learn effective ways to prevent bullying?
  • Do you want to be a force for change?
  • Are you looking for training that builds useful skills instead of just teaching you theories?

If so, this seminar is for you!

To facilitate learning and involvement, the seminar will be limited to 15 participants..

You will work together through days that mix presentation, discussion, and structured practice with feedback to strengthen skills and create intervention activities that you can use in school systems to prevent bullying.

Learning Objectives

By active participation in this workshop, learners will strengthen skills and knowledge:

  • Research about what works to prevent bullying– and what doesn’t..
  • Working as an effective advocate for change in a school system;
  • Designing and presenting effective training programs for educators and youth;
  • Developing and implementing discipline systems that discourage aggressive behavior;
  • Giving effective feedback to encourage young people (and school staff) to move toward positive behavior
  • Building positive, affirming school climate;
  • Helping young people to discover which needs they are trying to meet through aggressive behavior and to craft alternative ways of meeting those needs without harming others;
  • Supporting bystanders in becoming an active force for positive peer pressure about aggression and to include all;
  • Supporting targets of bullying; and
  • Working effectively with parents.

They will gain skills as trainers and presenters as they explore the use of voice, gesture, acting, and theater in presentation.
